Fans of the Disney classic “Dumbo” will be happy to know the remake finally arrivesMarch 29th. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children to care for a newborn elephant. This is perfect for the whole family!

Opening March 1st is “Greta”. It's about a sweet, naïve young woman trying to make it on her own in New York. Chloe Grace Moretz stars.

Opening March 8th is the first Marvel movie starring a woman. It's called “Captain Marvel”. It follows Carol Danvers (Oscar winner Brie Larson), an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident.

Also opening March 8th is “Gloria Bell”. Oscar winner Julianne Moore plays Gloria, a free-spirited divorcee who spends her days at a straight-laced office job and her nights on the dance floor. Also starring Michael Cera and John Turturro.

Opening March 15th is “Five Feet Apart”. Stella Grant is every bit a seventeen-year-old... She's attached to her laptop and loves her best friend. But unlike most teenagers, she spends much of her time living in a hospital as a cystic fibrosis patient.

Also opening March 15th is “The Mustang”. Roman, a convict in a rural Nevada prison who struggles to escape his violent past, is required to participate in a wild horse training program where he finds his own humanity in gentling an especially unbreakable mustang.

Opening March 22nd is “Where'd You Go Bernadette?”. Based on the runaway bestseller about Bernadette Fox, a Seattle woman who had it all – a loving husband and a brilliant daughter when she unexpectedly disappears, her family sets off an exciting adventure. It stars Oscar winner Cate Blanchett.

As you know, I love film festivals and this month there are two local ones. First, we have the22nd annual Sonoma International Film Festival fromMarch 27th through March 31st. Fans of Edward Burns will want to buy tickets for his new film, “Summertime”. Yes, he will be there! The opening night film is “Ladies in Black” starring Oscar winner Julia Ormond and directed by Bruce Beresford. A movie not to be missed is “Uncrushable” directed by local Tyler Florence. It's about the 2017 fires. Closing night film is “Sir”. I spoke to the programming director, Steve Shor, and he says this is a must see film.

The other amazing film festival is the 12th annual Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival,  March 28-31. If you love documentaries this one's for you. If you love cats you have to see “The Cat Rescuers”, directed by Rob Fructman and Steven Lawrence playing at the Robert Brent Auditorium. One film I'm excited about is “Alpha Mare”. Near Nicasio Reservoir, Karin suffers a psychotic episode. Through horsemanship, she learns a set of skills that help her manage her condition. Directed by Victor Tadashi Suarez and Mimi Wilcox. Also playing at the Robert Brent Auditorium.

Another film I'm seeing is “America”. Diego, a young circus artist, returns home to reunite with his brothers after their 93-year-old grandmother falls from her bed. Playing at the Rialto Cinemas directed by Erick Stoll and Chase Whiteside.

For my live theater fans who haven't had the chance to see “Hamilton”, you're in luck. It's back at the Orpheum in San Francisco till September 8, 2019. “Hamilton” is the story of America's Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation's first Treasury Secretary.

Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, rap and Broadway, “Hamilton”is the story of America then, as told by America now. Do yourself a favor and plan on seeing this amazing show. Go for more information.
