JCC Sonoma County is happy to announce its 2019 film season of the Israeli Film Festival, bringing to our local community a taste of the well-respected, robust and prolific film industry in Israel.
The Israeli Film Festival will feature 4 great programs, with stories from a country that is often in the news, but where we seldom see the real lives of the people who live there.
Save the dates! Coming up every Tuesday in March, at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Season-Passes on sale February 1 ($38/$50), Individual ticket sales begin February 8 ($10/$13). A limited number of tickets will be available at the theater on the day of the show. Prices at the door - Matinee $11, Evening show $14. All screenings at Rialto Cinemas Sebastopol.
The festival will open on March 5 with the humorous romantic comedy “And Then She Arrived”, based on the true-life story of music journalist Shai Lahav.
Don’t miss “The Amazing Journey”, the closing program on March 26th, that will bring highlights from the hit documentary TV series that travels the world learning about different cultures through their food and the people who make it. In season 7, for the first time they came to explore the US. The JCC’s Doron Hovav, the Film Festival Program Director, spent three months on their team as a producer - researching locations, people, and foods, then filming with the crew on a continuous road trip from coast to coast. You’ll be the first in America to watch an episode and after the screening you can hear behind the scenes stories, insights, and anecdotes about the making of this hit show.
On March 12, we will show the drama “Fractures”,a timely #MeToo film that raises many universal dilemmas women and men are dealing with today.
And “The Testament” on Tues. March 19, is a drama that explores the boundaries of truth on a historical level but even more so, on a personal level.
