Sebastopol’s favorite local bar is back with a new interior, big screen TVs, premium sports package, classic full bar, comfortable lounge setting, darts + other entertainment, happy hour specials, top shelf bar squad, live music schedule, and space for special events.
Jasper’s, the reinvented space in the Jasper O’Farrell building in downtown Sebastopol, announced today the bar will celebrate a Grand Opening event on February 15, 2020 with Jam’s Joy Bungalow food truck serving up delicious SE Asian fare, live jams from SCHLEE, and cocktail specials throughout the evening.
Jasper’s is open for business daily from 3:00pm to 2:00am on Monday through Friday and 5:00pm to 2:00am on Saturday + Sunday.
“We are so excited to be opening this space back up to the community. We’ve updated the interior in a way that really accentuates the historic beauty of the building. The space is elegant but hip, with a sort of speakeasy vibe. We wanted an elevated feel that still stayed accessible and relaxed. The original Jasper O’Farrell’s was such a staple when we were growing up. Before we could drink here, our manager and I used to eat at the bar, throw darts and wait for his mom to get off of work. Whether you loved it or hated it, you have memories at Jasper O’Farrell’s if you grew up in Sonoma County. We named it Jasper’s because that’s what it is to this community and that’s what we wanted to bring back. Regardless of the name, it will always be known Jasper’s to locals. It’s always been more than the sum of its parts; Jasper’s is special because of the people in it and we want to nurture the connections we’ve made here and become an anchor in this community again.
A locally owned and operated bar for locals and industry folks alike, but a place that’s really welcoming to everyone. We are collaborating with other local businesses and will focus on promoting community artists, events, artisans, and chefs. We want to be the spot where people go to relax over great cocktails, watch sports, and enjoy live music in an intimate space. Whether you grew up at Jasper’s or have never been in, we want you to come see all of the hard work that the Jasper’s team has done and have a drink while you’re at it.” Damian Clopton Gray, Owner, Jasper’s.
Jasper’s evolution into an upscale dive bar is some old, some new. The name Jasper’s, honors the building’s rich history of being a local watering hole since Ron Germone opened the doors in 1982 as the original Jasper O’Farrell’s. The new logo and artistic thread throughout pay homage to the San Patricios, a group of Irish soldiers that fought with the Mexican army in the Mexican American war. Their bravery is celebrated in both Mexico and Ireland. It’s a fascinating piece of history, but also a wonderful way to celebrate two great cultures and their spirits. So along with a great selection of Irish whisky, “expect a top notch Mezcal selection and an inspired cocktail menu” says Clopton Gray.
The vision of the new Jasper’s would not have come to fruition without the help of a master hospitality team including General Manager, Noah Andrus, a native son of Sonoma County with nearly 20 years of local hospitality work under his belt. From the Underwood in Graton, where he was mentored by beloved former owner Lulu Spittles and world-renowned bartender, Frank Dice the the 3rd, to managing Forchetta/Bastoni, Aubergine, and Guayaki Yerba Mate in Sebastopol. Head Bartender, Benjamin Pavlichek, also a Sebastopol native, who spent 8 years in San Francisco and Chicago working for world-renowned bar programs and bartenders including The Cordial and the Berkshire Room. Under his direction, the Library Bar at the PUBLIC Hotel was voted one of the Top Hotel Bars in Chicago and Top 5 Coziest Hotel Bars by HuffPost. Bartender, Nicole Trowe has worked locally at the Hopmonk, La Rosa, and Zazu and has been instrumental in the creation of the cocktail program. Owners Damian Clopton Gray and fiancé Ashley Osbun are both Sonoma county natives who moved to Sebastopol after losing their home in Coffey Park to the Tubbs Fire. Damian is also the owner of Jam’s Joy Bungalow (food truck and café) and serves on the Board of Directors for Coffey Strong, a community organization that provides services for those devastated by the 2017 fires. He continues to be committed to helping residents rebuild the Coffey Park community.
Jasper’s, the reinvented local bar space in downtown Sebastopol, will be open daily from 3:00pm to 2:00am. Jasper’s hosts a full bar, beer + wine, and will be offering food service right outside its doors from Jam’s Joy Bungalow on busy weekends. Jasper’s will feature live music, weekend Karaoke, darts, trivia nights, bar games, and will host special events. They have two 82” 4k TVs with a premium sports package and serve free popcorn throughout the evening. They’ll also be adding some great features such as a mobile bar and outdoor TV to the back patio once the weather allows.
'We invite you to join us on February 15, 2020 for the Grand Opening and hope you’ll come back to visit again and again.
