As the country’s first bilingual community radio station, KBBF has been a leader in providing the programming and information that best serves its Spanish-speaking and bilingual listeners. Did you know that the KBBF website contains diverse, bilingual information regarding immigration policy and resources? See the page at   https://kbbf.org/immigration/  to learn about the rights of immigrants, key statistics affecting the community, and other services, organizations, and networks that address the needs of newcomers and immigrants who have been here for awhile.

Local Groups Serving Immigrants

Sonoma County is home to multiple organizations working to advocate on behalf of immigrants and support them in living here safely. Below are some notable groups in the area, as well as their contact information.

If you see ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) in your area, call the North Bay Rapid Response Network number at  (707) 800-4544. The network is comprised of trained volunteers who will disseminate information and serve as legal observers if necessary. This contact number is for any ICE reports in Sonoma, Solano, or Napa counties.

Santa Rosa-based Comité Vida has a mission “To educate and mobilize residents of Sonoma County about legal and social justice issues affecting the lives of immigrants and our entire community for positive action.” For more information, call (707) 523-1740.

The North Bay Organizing Project (NBOP)  is concerned with policy and politics, but with a grassroots approach. They described themselves as a “multi-racial, and multi-issue organization comprised of over twenty-two faith, environmental, labor, student and community-based organizations in Sonoma County. NBOP seeks to build a regional power organization rooted in working class and minority communities in the North Bay: Uniting people to build leadership and grassroots power for social, economic, racial and environmental justice.” Find out more at  (707) 481-2970.
