Taking Back Our Power with
the Community Resilience Challenge

Daily Acts is excited to announce the 2018 Community Resilience Challenge, an annual community mobilization campaign that runs April through the end of May and inspires thousands of people to save water, grow food, conserve energy, reduce waste, and build community in Sonoma County.

The Community Resilience Challenge (the Challenge) is like a New Year’s resolution for the planet. Since 2010, over 5,500 people have pledged 30,787 actions that build sustainability and resilience right here where we live. The time is ripe to take back our power and commit to one (or all!) of the 25 suggested actions for this year’s Challenge. Our individual actions do add up to make a powerful difference, and through campaigns like the Challenge, the effects of our actions are magnified and quantified.

Actions can include projects like installing a garden, harvesting the rain, or building a drip irrigation system, as well as behavior changes like biking to work one day a week, bringing a coffee mug to cut back on waste, or not idling your car for more than 30 seconds.

Here’s How You Can Get Involved:

1. Make a pledge online at www.dailyacts.org/crc/ by choosing from a list of 25 suggested actions (or filling in your own), or volunteer at one of several fun volunteer events, all listed on the website!

2. Share a photo of your completed action or volunteer participation on social media with hashtag #BERESILIENT and a brief explanation of what you did or why you got involved.

3. Get Invited, Win Big Prizes, Save the World!By pledging and sharing, you’ll be invited to our big celebration party at the end of the Challenge, plus you’ll be entered in a prize raffle for incredible products that will support your resilient lifestyle. Bike Blender anyone?

The Challenge aims to not only inspire action, but also collaborative projects, relationship building and strengthened networks to create lasting change. While our individual actions may feel small, when we see them registered alongside thousands of other actions it shows how powerful this movement is. The campaign encourages individuals, schools, organizations, municipalities and businesses to take practical actions to create more resilient homes, schools, workplaces and communities. We ALL benefit from collective action, so what are the small changes you can make to make a big difference? Make a pledge today!
