The regular meetings of the Cazadero Community Club resume on Tuesday, March 5th-7 p.m. at Firehall #1. Please join your neighbors in planning events which benefit the entire community! The Montgomery Elementary School starts off February celebrating the 100th day of school on February 6th. School will be closed for both Lincoln's Birthday on 2/12 and President's Day on 2/18. The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition has announced its 2019 Gold Medal winners. Cazadero Winery, one of Sonoma County's premiere mom-pop winerys, wins more Gold with Bei Ranch grapes from the vineyard originally planted by John Bei in the early 1990's.

Membership dues are only $10. for Individuals and $15, for families. Please send to CCC, P.O. Box 3, Cazadero, Calif. 95421. The Montgomery Elementary School students will be getting back in the swing of their daily routines as they return to school from their two-week Winter break on Monday, January 7th.

Remember that by choice, we live in a very wooded area. The Pole Mountain Fire Lookout has been reopened and is the only lookout serving Sonoma County. Its primary purpose is the early detection of fires, so they can be stopped when small.

Coast, River MAC Representatives to be selected this month. Over the past month, the Fifth District Office received more than 40 applications from people hoping to represent their community in one of the two new Fifth District municipal advisory councils.

The Coast MAC and Lower Russian River MAC is established to advise the Board of Supervisors and other County decision makers on local planning and management decisions relating to their respective regions, to provide a regular forum for citizen participation in the formation of advisory recommendations on those decisions, and to provide a bridge for communication between the County and local residents and businesses, and the general public on local government decisions affecting these communities.

It is getting dark as I write this, close to the Autumnal Equinox. The large Redwoods outside of my airy cyber-hut are outlined in the dusk and remind me of the necessity to be fire-safe, if there is such a thing! As we approach the 1st Anniversary of the horrific firestorms of October 2017, I know that many of us ask what can we do to prevent wild land fires.

The early fog has burned off, leaving us with a lovely sunny day. The rage redwoods surrounding my airy cyber-hut are outlined against the clear blue sky and the smoke from the dreadful fires has dissipated here. We hope that those fires will soon be extinguished and we salute the brave firefighters for their tireless work on all of our behalves!
